Man I've had low energy levels lately. I feel like I should be accomplishing more, but oh well...

Saturday we went to the garage sale at Aqua Books (all books were 3/$1). We picked up $3 worth of books (no very exciting titles, but hey - they were only 33 cents each). We had lunch at Eat Bistro (located inside the bookstore). Since it was Celiac Awareness Week, they actually had a different menu than the regular one posted outside. I ended up ordering the ginger carrot soup with chai foam & the roasted vegetables with chick pea cakes. Rob had the chicken fingers with honey dill dip. Both were awesome :-)

Afterwards, we checked out the Soca Reggae festival happening in Old Market Square. Unfortunately, there were no main stage acts going on at the time, so we decided to visit Toad Hall Toys instead. I was very good - lots of petting but no purchasing. Still no live entertainment at the Reggae festival (it was probably all scheduled for later in the day).

On the way home we noticed ANOTHER book sale. This one was at Sam's Place: $1 per inch. Rob found a couple of paperbacks.

Crashed when we got home - another 2 hour nap (I have really got to stop doing that, but it's like my batteries just stop). Still tired, we decided to watch one of the many movies sitting on the Tivo: Zombieland. It was pretty fun; I had some quibbles with the story but it was still good.

Today we hit the sidewalk sale at Garden City. I found $5 shoes & Rob found $10 Hawaian shirts (nice ones!). As an added bonus, a band that had played at Folk Fest was doing a free live show at center court. Ladies of the Canyon is a folk/country band from Montreal. I hadn't heard any of their songs before; they were pretty high energy & harmonised very well.

I was going to bake some banana loaves today too, but I forgot to check for butter when I pulled the bananas from the freezer this morning so I guess that's on tomorrow's agenda now.

We went to see the Eagles/Dixie Chicks concert last night - it was a blast! We had floor seats. Security was very militant about keeping people seated but they eventually gave up, even on keeping people from dancing in the aisles. I had not seen either band live before - they were both fabulous :-)

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

NFPC - The Artist

Nature, Foreground, Big Picture, and Color

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on what's in front of you (the foreground) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the colors around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to deal directly with whatever comes your way without dealing with speculating possibilities or outcomes you can't control. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You are a down-to-earth person who enjoys going with the flow.

I didn't really do much this weekend. I did manage to watch 3 movies (2 of which had been sitting in the Tivo queue for a while:

The Last Mimsy
Not bad, not great - neat effects, topical message.  I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in the theater.

Fido
Was awesome!  It was witty in a really creepy sort of way, juxtaposing a 50's style "Utopia" with a zombie epidemic.  I would definitely watch it again :-)  Kudos to Billy Connelly for emoting so much under the zombie makeup & without the benefit of dialog.

Across the Universe
I found well crafted and entertaining.  Mind you, I'm a sucker for a visual feast and like most Beatles tunes so it  already had a lot going for it in my book.

I also made Irish Car Bomb cupcakes (yup, just like th drink - a Guiness chocolate cupcake with Irish Whiskey & Bailey's Irish Cream frosting) for our potluck /business meeting.  They went over really well - I'll definitely make them again.

I dropped by Shoe Warehouse today after work.  Their clearance section absolutely rocked!  There was an additional 50% off the lowest marked price on all clearance items.  I bought 8 pairs of shoes for a grand total of $235.  If I had paid the regular price (hah!) the total would have been $783

I got new runners for work, plus a couple of pairs of Sketchers runners, some dressy Adidas sneakers (low rise red & white toille pattern with red trim) and a really cute pair of Be Wild runners.  I also got a pair of Rockport walking sandals (they make my feet feel like they're walking on clouds) & Romika walking sandals (also very comfy) as well as brown suede Roberto Vianni high heels with gold trim.

I almost felt bad buying so many shoes... but when most  of them are 75% off the original price (or 1/2 price at the very least) & very comfy/pretty to boot I just can't help myself :-)

In the last couple of weeks I've made:

- Menage-a-Trois cookies (truffle like chocolate cookies with white, milk & dark chocolate chunks)
- Pina Colada Rum Squares (coconut / pineapple / macadamia / white chocolate / rum bars)
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Tart (sweet pastry crust with a toffee/nut layer, peanut butter layer & chocolate layer)
- Amaretto Almond White Chocolate Squares
- Vietnamese Banana Cake (I didn't care for this one as much - it was more "bread pudding-ish" than "bread-ish").

I've been loving how the house smells :-)
I've also been sharing a lot, because otherwise my sweetie and I will each weigh about 500 pounds each!

Sooo... I was looking at Jeff Dunham's website and noticed he's got some North Dakota tour dates (probably as close as it's ever going to get for us).  He's going to be in Grand Forks (yay!) - but it's on a Thursday (crap!).  He's going to be in Fargo (not quite as close as Grand Forks, but still yay) - but it's also on a Thursday (boo!).  I finally saw a North Dakota show listed on  a Saturday (yay!) - but it's in Bismark (kind of a far drive).

Why couldn't there be a Saturday show in Grand Forks?  *pout*

Whoops, I hit send a bit too soon on that last message...

I forgot to mention some of the other goodies we got.  We've been slowly replacing some of our old cassette tapes musical collection with cds.  We just picked up Billy Idol Greatest Hits & ZZ Top Greatest Hits.  We also found the Terry Jones Medieval Lives dvd at HMV.

The boots I got were very stylish (& incredibly comfortable too!).  Sterling still has their 1/2 off lowest marked price on last season's stock deal going on.  That's where I found my knee-high brown suede slim fitting rouched boots.  I like them lots :-)

I also finally dropped into Shoenet & picked up knee high white strappy/rouched boots. I briefly eyed their thigh high red boots, but didn't try them on for fear they would look more like hip-waders on me ;-P  Maybe some other time...

I'm feeling much better.  I did make a doctor's appointment, but they didn't have any openings till early May.

We went to the Home Expressions Show on Friday. They had some really neat concepts that we may actually use in our renovations as well as others that we just drooled over but have no hope in Hell of implementing until we win the lottery.  We both found ourselves making Tim Taylor noises over some of the stuff :-) like the wall plasma tv in a picture frame with a moving fake painting cover, or the giant high-def plasma screen that would just about completely cover a wall.

I also found more sexy boots this weekend.  I really need to get some pictures of them posted... and possibly a shoe/boot shopping intervention ;-)

I love their descriptions on these photos.  This one in particular is fantastic.
